In March 2014, when the clouds of war gathered over Ukraine and the Crimean peninsula was occupied by Russian troops, trouble began to stir in the east of the country — separatism flared up. During these anxious days, when every piece of Ukrainian land needed protection, the soldiers of the 1 Airborne Assault Battalion were ordered to move to the front line. Without hesitation, they stood to defend the sovereignty of the state, carrying out combat tasks in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where the fate of Ukraines independence and territorial integrity was being decided.
After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022, when the whole country was under threat of destruction, the soldiers of the 1 Airborne Assault Battalion became a real shield at the front. Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, they proudly and courageously resisted the enemy’s pressure on the Izium-Slavyansk highway, showing iron endurance and unwavering determination, defending the settlements of Kamianka and Dovhenke, preventing the enemy from outflanking the troops. This unit played a key role in liberating a number of settlements during the Slobozhansky counteroffensive — Yaremyivka, Pasika, Synychyn, Oleksandrivka, Krymky, Korovy Yar, Shandryholove, Druzhelyubivka, Novoihorivka, and Tverdokhlybiv. In each of these villages and towns, Ukrainian defenders left a mark of victory, courage, and hope.
Since March 2022, in response to the escalation of the combat situation, the personnel of the 1 Airborne Assault Battalion was relocated to the vicinity of the settlements of Terny, Yampil (Donetsk region), and Nevske (Luhansk region). Also, during 7 months of 2022-2023, they performed storm and defense tasks in the Serebryansk forests. These frontiers became a new challenge — a place where every day meant a new battle for each meter of Ukrainian land. At the front, where the ground shakes from explosions and the sky is torn apart by shrapnel, the battalion soldiers proved themselves as true knights of modern warfare. Thanks to courage, combat coordination, professional training, and unshakable belief in victory, no attempt by the enemy to advance was successful.
In late November 2023, when the enemy tried again to break through at the Kupiansk direction, the soldiers of the 1 Airborne Assault Battalion were relocated to the area of the settlement of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region. There, they once again proved: the Ukrainian spirit is unbreakable. High combat readiness, strong psyche honed in hundreds of battles, invaluable experience of commanders, and unbreakable courage — all these became the guarantee that the unit not only held back the enemies assault but also successfully destroyed its manpower, shattering the enemy’s plans with lightning precision. In close cooperation with adjacent units, the paratroopers turned defense into an offensive. They repeatedly demonstrated that the Ukrainian soldier not only holds the line but also knows how to act decisively — entering the enemy’s rear, disrupting their logistics, sowing panic, and shattering illusions of superiority.
On August 6, 2024, the war took on a new dimension — the soldiers of the 1 Airborne Assault Battalion wrote another heroic chapter in the history of resistance. They successfully crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of the Russian Federation, boldly bringing the war to the aggressor territory. It wasn’t just a tactical breakthrough — it was a symbol of strength, confidence, and decisive retribution. Near the settlements of Mala Loknya, Stara Sorochyna, and Pogrebky in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian paratroopers confidently carried out combat tasks, demonstrating excellent professional training, composure, and an unshakable will to win.
Our Values
-
A soldiers life is our highest value
We always prioritize decisions that help preserve the lives of our soldiers. In every situation, we carefully analyze all the details and possible risks of combat tasks, and only after that do we determine the most effective strategy that minimizes the threat to personnel.
-
Equal treatment for soldiers with combat experience and novice volunteers
Our battalion is a living organism, where every link plays an important role and is always ready to support the next one. We do not tolerate internal competition and encourage respect and mutual assistance for the common goal. People who come here to pursue personal goals have no place.
-
Continuous learning and self-improvement
Continuous learning and high-quality training of personnel are the keys to successfully performing combat tasks. The only thing you need to become part of our battalion is motivation. Everything else will be provided by our experienced instructors: modern weapons, tactical training, physical endurance, and invaluable combat experience from comrades.
-
Result above all
We work not for the sake of the process itself but for a clear result. It is our focus on achieving the goal that gives us confidence in the correctness of our course. We do not waste resources unnecessarily — every step matters. Efficiency, responsibility, and effectiveness are the foundation of our approach. Only actions that lead to victory have real value.

Of course, our unit performs combat tasks on the front line, and accordingly, infantry plays a key role, but the brigade is like a small country, with doctors, financiers, lawyers, programmers, chefs, drivers, clerks, psychologists, and many other positions, all working together for victory. After the interview and with the commander’s approval, a position similar to civilian work can be chosen.
